Hello Pip – What a lovely message to receive. What great PR - well done. We all thought your restaurant, particularly the upstairs room was absolutely ideal for our celebration. I can’t believe we were so lucky to find you searching Yell.com.

 

The food was excellent and your attention to detail was beyond any other restaurant I have visited – the newly engaged couple were very impressed to see their names at the top of the menu’s.

 

Thank you to you and your staff for making our evening very special. Us parents will be visiting you again soon!!

January 09: We had an excellent dinner on Saturday last. We both had wonderful roast belly pork and then shared a lovely cheeseboard. We had exceptional service and were allowed plenty of time to savour the food. Many thanks to the chef and restaurant management for such a great experience.

 

December 08: First of all thank you and your team for an extremely enjoyable Saturday evening in the upstairs room, we all enjoyed it, enjoyed the wine and especially enjoyed the food.

 

December 08: I dined at your restaurant with some of my family and I just wanted to let you know what an all round excellent dining experience it was. The staff were attentive and friendly without being obtrusive; each of our dishes (all different) were cooked perfectly and served in good time, AND the restaurant itself was warm and well presented. You provided exactly what I look for when I take time to go out to dinner, and very few venues actually achieve all these things well. Thank you for getting it so right.

 

December 08: We all really enjoyed Friday evening and Rosie will remember her 18th birthday! The food was delicious and the service very good.

 

December 08: Just to say what a brilliant time we had the other night. Our party was a pain as several people were late but this did not seem to be a problem for the team, the food was delicious and my dad had a great 70th birthday.

 

December 08: Hi Pip, thanks for making everything so perfect, and those that are local will definitely be coming back. The bill was also much cheaper than expected so thanks for keeping the costs down. You and the team are truly brilliant – thanks to all who looked after us and to the chefs. It was everything we had hoped for and more – total perfection.

May 08: I wanted to express my sincere thanks for the way Peter and his staff managed our group booking on Saturday. The lunch was brilliant (especially the sticky toffee pudding) and we all enjoyed it immensely. We no doubt disrupted the day for Peter and his staff but they could not have been nicer to us.

 

April 08: Many thanks to each and everyone who contributed to our special birthday celebration on Saturday. We were delighted with the evening and have many happy memories.

 

November 07: Dear Pip & ‘Team’, A big thank you to you all for your part in my birthday celebrations. The atmosphere was perfect – so relaxed- and the food was, as usual, delicious and original.

 

September 07: Dear Pip, chef and all the staff who contributed to making my lunchtime party such a success - THANK YOU! Gilbey’s has always been our favourite local restaurant and now even more so! The food was superb – I’ve had so many compliments about the food. The ambience was great, the service friendly and professional and you all made the day for me so very special.

 

March 2007: Dear Pip, we just had to write to say what a most enjoyable time we and our guests spent at Gilbey's on 11th March. The food and service well matched the recommendation we had. Thank you for accommodating all 14 of us so well. Our thanks too to all the staff, the chefs and the young lady who served us for ensuring the occasion went so well.

October 2006: Lunch on Sunday. I am a bit of a foodie and can be hypercritical. I had scallops and lamb shank. My wife and son had tandoori chicken and mango followed by roast beef. I can honestly say that it is one of the best meals I have had this year. .... The staff were friendly without being familiar or intrusive. All in all a really nice experience. Thank you very much.

 

October 2006: Pippa, Just wanted to thank you for making Huw’s evening such a success on Saturday. The table looked lovely and was just right, the atmosphere was great and everyone enjoyed the food very much.

 

August 2006 (Ruby wedding lunch party): We would both like to thank you and your team both in the restaurant and in the kitchen for a very pleasant day yesterday. The food, drinks, service and atmosphere were excellent. The whole occasion was as we had hoped it would be.

December 2005: from Cheshire: We meet up every year for a Christmas meal and we all agreed that this year’s was by far the best. We had an excellent meal in pleasant surroundings, but most of all we had exemplary service. I had a long journey, but it was worth the 180 miles!

 

September 2005: Thank you for looking after us so well at my birthday celebrations last Sunday. It was just what I wanted – you created an informal and relaxed atmosphere and everybody enjoyed themselves.
