This "cosy" high street wine bar, near the College, has been in the same ownership for over 30 years, and is tipped for its consistently "enjoyable" food; tables at the front are "great for people-watching", while the "huge" rear conservatory is best in summer.

June '10: Hi Emma - Just wanted to say thank-you for the dinner on Monday night. My foreign visitors enjoyed seeing Windsor & Eton and were very complimentary about the dinner.
June '10: Hi Caroline - I have to say that we were delighted with the service and quality of food. Two of the girls have said that they needed to return with their partners. I will definitely return - having never Eton there before (like the pun?1) I couldn't have chosen a better place. The staff were so friendly and warm - it was a really special evening. Thank you!

You looked after us very well - we were a big party and given that you also had two or three other large parties, that was no mean feat! July '09; Dear Emma, I wanted to drop you a line to say thank you for the excellent meal we had at your restaurant on 20th July. We were celebrating my boyfriend's birthday and we couldn't have made a better choice. The food and wine were fantastic and every course was beautifully presented. We were served by Emily, who was approachable, friendly and extremely professional. Please pass on our thanks to both her and your chefs. We will definitely be back.

December 08: I wanted to say everybody loved the food! I still have people telling me this morning how gorgeous the food +service+décor was. Overall everybody in the office gave it 10 out of 10. I’ve eaten in Windsor before but the food at Gilbey’s was so good. You will be pleases to know 4 people have asked me to make a reservation for them in the New Year! I will definitely be returning with my family next week or so!
October 08: I just want to say how wonderful a time we had and that we all congratulate you and your team on the service we received during the afternoon and we must not forget the food which was delightful throughout. This certainly was a good send off for one of our retiring managers. Thanks again and no doubt you will see us soon.

October 08: Dinner on Wednesday was very nice, and everyone was very happy. I appreciate that it is difficult to cater for a table of 24 and yet your staff did a very good job.
October 08: We had a great night – the atmosphere and dining room were spot on. We really enjoyed the food and of course the local champagne. I took a number of cards - I will be passing them onto my colleagues for their use in the future.

We were delighted with the layout of the rooms, the napkins were beautifully and perfectly bound and the flowers gave the restaurant just the right warmth. Your staff were exceptionally helpful and courteous, the food was excellent and being able to gather in the garden for a pre dinner drink was perfect.
